Longest Golf Hole In The World!

According to The Guinness Book of World Records, the Satsuki golf course in Sano, Japan, boasts the longest hole in the world –This is an exhausting 964-yard, par-7 humdinger.

But the Japanese domination is about to end. Joe Gibbs, owner of Chocolay Downs Golf Course in Marquette, Michigan, is building a double-dogleg par 6. The total: 1,007 yards. Quadruple digits, buddy, the Milton Berle of fairways.

“I don’t mean to start World War III over this, but the World War II veterans like the fact that we’re beating the Japs again,” says the exceedingly patriotic Gibbs, whose course is set to open next spring. “It’s going to make a nice amount of publicity for America. This is America! We beat ’em once, and we’ll beat ’em again.”

The Japanese, for their part, are a tad more genteel. “We still have the longest hole in Japan and have no intention of extending it,” says Hidekazu Ojaki, vice-manager of the Satsuki links. “This won’t hurt business at all.” Good thing, too, because Gibbs is ready for a counterattack: Chocolay has almost half a mile of unused real estate behind the tee just in case anyone gets any funny ideas. “You might want to note that we intend to always have the world’s longest fairway.”

So much for that reasoning!

Chocolay Downs was donated to Northern Michigan University, and they renamed the golf course to NMU Golf Course.  On top of that they redesigned the 6th hole, cutting it by more than half to a mere 440 yards.  NMU Golf Course is well known for its ninth hole, with one of the world’s largest golfing greens at more than 29,000 square feet.

So then:  Chocolay Downs Golf Course was known for having the world longest hole, the par-6 6th which measured 1,007 Yards. After becoming NMU Golf Course, the hole was shorten to 440 yards.   So Much For Records!

The new record holder again for the world’s longest golf hole is Satsuki Golf Club in Sano, Japan with their 7th hole, a par 7, covering a foot aching 964 yards.

SOUTH KOREA doesn’t want to be out done.
***A mile is 1,760 yards.  A golf hole in South Korea is almost two-thirds of a mile and is probably now The World’s Longest.***

The third hole on one of five courses at Gunsan Country Club is a par 7 that measures 1,097 yards from the tips.

Gunsan Country Club is an 81-hole facility and was once a salt field. The property covers over 1,060 acres. Every hole is surrounded by water hazards, with 380 acres of lakes. There are 26 bridges to get around the property. There’s also a par-6 hole on the property that measures in at 723 yards.

This should wet your appetite to want to golf these courses.

If that’s not the Longest Golf Hole in the World we want to know what is?

Let me know if you are aware of one that is longer.
